OSTEOPATHY, APPLIED KINESIOLOGY

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a safe and natural approach to healthcare. It is an established, recognised system of diagnosis and treatment that lays its main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body and is distinctive in the fact that it recognises much of the pain and disability we suffer stems from abnormalities in the function of the body structure as well as damage caused by disease.

Patients may be treated for health problems ranging from from the trauma of birth to the arthritis of the elderly.

Osteopaths use their hands both to investigate the underlying causes of pain and to carry out treatment using a variety of manipulative techniques, including muscle and connective tissue stretching, rhythmic joint movements and high velocity thrust techniques to improve the range of movement of a joint. Gentle releasing techniques are often used, particularly when treating children or elderly patients.

Applied Kinesiology (AK)

Applied Kinesiology (AK) uses a system of basic muscle testing to evaluate areas of dysfunction within the body. The method of AK is primarily concerned with neuromuscular function and how it relates to the regulation of structural, chemical and mental physiology. It works on the principle that the body is a self-maintaining, self-correcting mechanism, using muscle testing to give an insight into body function and determine imbalances within the body.

Treatment may involve manipulation, guidance in self treatment and, where necessary, nutritional support.
